Turk and Lozier of Chicago broke ground for their North Kankakee factory in the 200 block of North Washington Avenue on October 8, 1891. This drawing is one of the earliest views of the factory. By August 25, 1892, gold leaf block letters on the front of the building said, "Joseph Turk Furniture Co." This photograph was taken at a later date. Over the years, the company manufactured bicycle frames, metal beds and furniture, and shower baths. |
